Volunteers are a vital part of The Hospice of East Texas team. They bring caring concern, comfort and compassion to patients and families and support the work of hospice in countless ways. Volunteers serve throughout our 23 county service area, helping their friends and neighbors at a very difficult time in their lives.
The following are some of the ways volunteers serve at The Hospice of East Texas: Patient Care and Support Patient care volunteers provide companionship and emotional support to the patient and family, helping in the home and offering respite to the caregiver. Volunteers also can offer support to grieving families through telephone calls, notes or personal visits, shopping, cooking and cleaning. Administrative/Office Support Volunteers assist in the office by providing help with special projects, mailings and clerical support. Volunteers also staff the front desk at HomePlace, offering a welcoming smile and guidance to families and visitors. Special Events Volunteers help with fundraising events, conferences, seminars, brick and tile dedications and other special events which support the work of The Hospice of East Texas. Student Volunteers The Hospice of East Texas welcomes volunteers of all ages. Each year, special programs and projects are designed with young people and groups of young people in mind. Unique Services Many creative people lend their talents to The Hospice of East Texas. Volunteers provide everything from music to meals, garden design to public speaking.
