About Us

Dear Angels of Hospice
I want to thank you for all the tender care you gave to my precious husband.  You will never be forgotten, never.  I never realized there were so many Heavenly Angels all around but now I do.  I and my family love you.  God bless you as only He can.

What is Hospice Care?

Hospice care is family focused, physician-directed care for persons with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Hospice of East Texas specializes in medical, emotional and spiritual care for persons with life expectancies of six months or less.

Life-limiting illnesses require many decisions about what to do.  There is one decision that will seem easier than all the others – contacting The Hospice of East Texas.  A non-profit agency, we have been caring for our friends and neighbors in East Texas since 1982.

Hospice of East Texas Philosophy
As Hospice of East Texas, we care for people in all stages of their life. We believe in the dignity of each person and the value of each human life. Hospice exists not to postpone death but to help the patient and family to live as fully as possible. Death is not denied but accepted, and life is affirmed and lived more fully as a result.

Whether accompanied by disease or not, death is a universal fact of life and dying is a natural process. We believe that every person is entitled to participate fully in every part of life in order to prepare for death in a way that is personally satisfactory. We believe that we all depend on one another. Therefore, it is crucial particularly in the last few months of life to develop a caring community that can provide services to patients and their families.
